Aerosol transmission and COVID-19: overview

SARS-CoV 2, the agent of disease known as COVID-19, appeared in China at end 2019. The virus is transmitted primarily through air droplets or microdroplets emitted by symptomatic (through coughing sneezing during aerosol-generating procedures) asymptomatic breathing speaking) infected persons. This article reviews current knowledge about sizes emitted, quantity viral particles potentially parameters influencing conditions transport and survival these particles, including atmospheric conditions, impact on development disease. It also discusses risk assessment recommendations for ventilation indoor spaces. © 2021 John Libbey Eurotext. All rights reserved.
